Fairy Character Art for Horror RPG Blackwater Manor: Bonus Chapter (Copy)
Bonus Chapter from Blackwater Manor| Cutest Little Mouse Painting: Mushroom forest floor watercolor for sale|
We have been working hard to get Blackwater Manor out and in your hands. We have been super busy inventing new magical objects, hidden libraries, and of course special characters. The Hunted One is near and dear to my heart. Not all of us are meant to rush in to danger bravely swinging a sword. That does not mean that even those of us who might freeze or search for the exit do not have a place in adventure. Read below for the Hunted One’s story.

When Meeting The Animals of Blackwater Manor
Cute is not safe.
Fur and feather is not always “alive”.
Animals have their own sense of morality do not assume safety or honesty just because you may be small or weak.
Animals that hunt historically eat small and weak.
Each species has its’ own sense of manors and decorum. Research before entering a new ecosystem. A lack of manors to tooth and claw will have a more serious consequence than going without supper.
None of this applies to the automatons made here. It can be hard to tell life from machine so listen closely though they have tried many time to perfect this a faint whirring sound can be heard from those created.
You might not be comfortable with your place in the food chain but once you enter the woods, or the lakes, or a few of the courtyards, or certainly the greenhouse you should take a moment to reevaluate that you are no longer at the top of the food chain. Do not ignore what you are uncomfortable with. False bravado will make you a meal or trophy.
A wise philosopher once said, “What is terror for the fly is normal for the spider.” Or something to that affect. If you have not understood yet: you are the fly not the spider.
When writing these characters remember it is not just the creatures you find in myths that have contracts with the house. You will find finches and tortoises carry messages. Mice in the home have an accord and parlay with the cats. The centaurs have and keep their own council as do the merpeople Not That I would ever group them with the animals. Please do not tell them you read about them here.
The Mice
There was the Great War in the house. If you are often in the kitchens you might stumble upon what could be an acorn shell that is hard enough to be fossilized. It is a relic of the war. A great fallen hero’s abandoned armor.
Some of the children lucky enough to find these armor plates, place them on black leather cord with the mouse’s skulls as a protection. The mice now are fairly harmless. They have made peace with the House of Bast. The cats largely leave them alone except on the nights of new moons.
Even Cook does not bother much with them. They remain out of her pantry and she leaves them little bowls of food in the highest cupboard. You might even hear them all chattering at night. There is no end to the things the Cook knows.
